120 participants reached!

During the weekend the number of applicants reached 120. Applications that did not make the cut will be put on a waiting list, and we will do our best to provide spots to these teams during the upcoming weeks.

We are excited to see that the interest for 24HBC is this high, and that the quality of the applications has been top notch! A full participant-list will be posted as soon as possible.

107 participants so far! There’s still room for a few more!

We only just announced that there will be a rerun of the 24hbc a week ago and already have 107 participants signed up for the event. It looks like we will see some interesting new web businesses being launched by October 30!

There are some dissapointing news however. Only 10 women have registered so far... Come on girls, don’t miss this opportunity! I know there are more Geek Girls out there.

The complete list of participants will be presented once the 120 seats are filled, so stay tuned for updates.

The 24 Hour Business Camp will happen again!

Welcome to join the most creative event of 2009 on October 28-30 at Hasseludden Yasuragi.

This time, the event is organized by the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship (SSES) together with Ted Valentin, the initiator of the 24 Hour Business Camp. Ted will act as “advisor and inspirational force” to make sure the event will keep the good spirit from the last camp!

At SSES we love initiatives like the 24 Hour Business Camp. Some have questioned “But will the startup created in 24 hours be profitable?” Maybe, maybe not. The purpose of this event is to allow innovative people to be creative and dare to jump! I think most of us have a dream to some day try something new, but find it hard to get around to that day. By participating in the 24 Hour Business Camp, you get a set date to kick off that dream. And you get to do it with 100 other creative spirits at the same time in the same room!

Today, it is possible to create amazing new services and applications based on existing APIs that companies and organizations open up for developers to use. Therefore, the theme for this 24 Hour Business Camp is Mashups and APIs. However, we don’t want to close the door for participants who want to create a startup that is not related to the theme, so anyone with a great idea that they believe they can realize in 24 hours is welcome to participate!

Looking forward to meeting you on the 28th of October at Hasseludden Yasuragi!

Marie Sundström, SSES

How to participate

(Please note: the camp is now full, with a long waiting list)

Send a one page description of your 24 Hour Project including a description of the member(s) in your team to elis.kullberg@sses.se. The first 120 participants that make a serious impression will be accepted.

With the help of sponsor contributions we are hoping to be able to keep the participation fee at around 2000 SEK/person, which include two hotel nights in a shared double room (2 single beds), two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners and access to the Japanese Spa at Hasseludden.

We offer a minimum of 10 student scholarships, which will allow students with the best applications to participate at the reduced fee of 750 SEK/person.

The 24 Hour Business Camp is a non-profit event.

About 24hbc

The 24 Hour Business Camp was first organized in February by internet entrepreneur Ted Valentin to inspire other people to build their own startup. During 24 hours, 90 participants tested their creative limits and launched 54 new startups! The event was a success in that it inspired the participants to find the essence of their business idea and make it real it in a limited time frame, proving that all you need to start a company today is a computer and the internet.

This time, the event is co-organized by the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship (SSES) and Ted Valentin, who happens to be an SSES alumn. At SSES we encourage our students to “dare to jump” and the 24 Hour Business Camp provides an excellent opportunity for young entrepreneurial minds to explore their abilities in an inspirational environment. The event is open to anyone with a great idea, but is mainly targeted towards the developers’ community and student entrepreneurs from the SSES partner schools, allowing for a good mix of people and competences.

This camp’s theme will circle around API:s. We hope to engage companies and organizations who are willing to open up their information to allow for our innovative entrepreneurs to create some amazing new services based on existing APIs. However, we do not want the theme to be a constraint. You are welcome to participate if you have a business idea that you would like to realize in 24 hours, even if it is not based on a certain API.
